Lower Manhattan is the home of the financial district of Manhattan, located at the southern tip of the island with the Hudson River on the west, the East River on the east, New York Harbor to the south, and Chambers Street on the north. It is one of the two largest business districts in New York City - the other being Midtown Manhattan - and is the historical core of the modern city; a fact reflected in the convoluted street pattern compared to the regular streets and avenues found uptown. Lower Manhattan is home to some of New York's most famous and evocative landmarks: Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge, as well as the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island and Ellis Island in the harbor, both accessed by ferry boat from the financial district. The housing in Lower Manhatten is fairly run-down sicne the area is very noisy due to being new yorks high light for night life activites and also because of this the crime rate is a little high. The boundaries of lower Manhatten consist of Houston St. to 14th St., Fourth Ave. to Sixth Ave, Chambers St. to Canal St., East River to Centre St, Vesey St. to Canal St., Broadway to Hudson River, Canal St. to Houston St., Bowery to Lafayette St, Canal St. to Houston St., Lafayette St. to Hudson River and from 110th St. to 155th St., St. Nicholas Ave. to the Hudson River. For Public transportation in Lower Mnahattan regarding the subway there are around 51 subway stations in the area. Some areas in Lower Manhattan include; Morningside Heights, Creenwich Village, China Town, Nolita, Little Italy, Soho, West Village and Tribeca.
